XZD 2017.1 with Xen 4.9
#1
Hi,

First off, great effort, it works like a charm!!!
Unfortunately to my project, it comes with Xen 4.8 and I need at least 4.9, so, could you please tell me how to build XZD with that version?

Should I just change below line from 4.7 to 4.9 at the repo?
PREFERRED_VERSION_xen = "4.7-dw%"

Repo: https://github.com/dornerworks/meta-xzd/...o/xzd.conf

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately it's a little more complicated than that.  You could adjust the Yocto recipes to use the meta-virtualization recipe for Xen to get a 4.9 branch from upstream, but it's likely to break something else.

What feature in 4.9, which didn't exist in 4.7, do you plan to utilize?

Hi Nate, there are some VMI features on Xen 4.9 not present on 4.7 and that is the reason I need to move up.
I successfully built Xen 4.10 with Yocto using meta-virtualization so, do you think the DomU guests prepared in the XZD release (Linaro, FreeRTOS, Ubuntu) would run properly? Or there is something I need to tweak?

They should run, but you may have to rebuild the kernel if the VMI features you are interested in require Dom0/DomU updates as well.
